What is a TUP?

A TUP (Temporary Use Permit) is a purpose-based permit for the temporary use of land. This is a land use permit that may authorize a use for a limited duration, even if the use itself could not be authorized in the zone on a permanent basis. A TUP is the broadest way to permit a limited-duration use. Most commonly, a TUP is necessary for events such as festivals, carnivals, fairs, ceremonies, addresses speeches, exhibits, seasonal sales, performances, plays, circuses, musical events, athletic events and other similar temporary outdoor uses private property.
